When To Caulk Kitchen Cabinets
Are you thinking about painting YOUR kitchen cabinets? Not sure if you should caulk your kitchen cabinets? In this post I will outline a few scenarios where you SHOULD and SHOULDN’T caulk your kitchen cabinets.
My name is Joel I’m the owner of H M Precision Painting. I wanted to cover this topic since I’ve had a few customers ask me whether they should caulk their kitchen cabinets. I explained to them that it is mostly optional but there are a few key scenarios where it is highly recommended.
Caulking
Caulking is recommended when you are look for an even, smooth, and sealed appearance on new kitchen cabinets. It is also recommended when you kitchen is going from a stain to a painted kitchen. The reason behind that is when you paint your kitchen, the paint is not able to get inside of all the cracks and crevices. This is why sealing off the edges with caulking will give you the best results and will prevent the stain from showing on the edges.
No Caulking
There are also a few scenarios where you have the option to not caulk your kitchen cabinets. Although we recommend sealing off the cracks and crevices on a new kitchen, some homeowners choose to leave their kitchen without caulking. You could also do the same if you’re going to paint your kitchen with another coat of the same color you have.
